I have noticed the use of thin beams which are 4mm, like half of the standard size. Instead of 3d printing the thin beams, if a file supported by laser cutters are provided, 4mm acrylic sheet can be used. It is more accessible on thin beams, and other supporting objects can be quickly printed.
